Stamped concrete

Some of the benefits of having stamped concrete.
Cost.  Stamped concrete can be made to look like other materials.  You like the look of tile, slate or brick, you can get that with much less cost for the same footage.
Structural stability.  Since the concrete slab is one solid piece you don't have problems with shifting of pieces or building in retaining features.  Since it is one solid piece on concrete you can forget about weeding in between the cracks like you would on a traditional slate, brick or tile patio.
Flexabilty of look and style.  Since we are creating the area from scratch you can make it look how you want from the begining, matching it to the house and yard.  The size, texture and color of the pattern is your creation.
Durability.  Stamped concrete is very maintenance free.  You can wash it, and if needed you can replace the coating when it is required.

Some regular maintenance is required.  The sun is very hard on things and concrete is no exception.  Make sure that they use a good sealer or dust proofing to finish the job off right.  Also if you do get a crack in the concrete it can be tricky to repair.  Matching up the colors and getting to the crack, and replicating the texture can be challenging after it has been done the first time.
